The next chapter has just begun for Echo Zoe. Today we received word that our application for 501(c)(3) non-profit tax-exempt status has been approved! Donations to Echo Zoe Ministries are now fully tax deductible (retro-active to the date of incorporation – July 7th, 2011.)
This process took much longer than expected. It didn't take too long to incorporate, just a few weeks. However, we first applied for 501(c)(3) status back in October of 2011. We expected to receive a determination by March, maybe April, but didn't get anything until May. At that time we received a letter requesting more information about the plans and purpose of the ministry. After sending that back in, it took until today to get the news we've been waiting for since October.
While we can now actively pursue donations, and grant tax receipts for them, our focus will not change. Money, if the Lord provides, will help cover expenses and possibly open new doors as He leads, but we still covet prayer more than anything. Our purpose is to further the Word of God above all else.
