We got dumped on last night. We're still getting dumped on.
I headed out for work this morning, and couldn't get onto the main road heading to the freeway. I got a blcok and a half and got stuck. I managed to head back down a block and then try another street. I got stuck there too. I almost left my pickup and walked two blocks home, but managed to get it moving in reverse. I trudged back home and barely made it into the driveway. I couldn't get it in the garage.
The snow on top of my pickup is 45 minutes worth of accumulation (about an inch).

It was 79 degrees here last night. 🙂
At least there is one reason to live in North Carolina!
Quite often cited as the ONLY reason.
And your storm arrived here this morning. While the weathermen, live, at 6:20am were predicting “less than 1/100th inch” of rain, it was a downpour. And I’ll bet our traffic was worse than yours was. For some reason when it rains here, the interstate maximum speed drops to about 35-40mph…
They said this morning our average was 9.9″ of snow, which would have been 3/4″ of rain if it were a few degrees warmer.
As for traffic, 35-40mph would have been nice here. Many roads were downright impassible for a while, and many others had lots of cars in the ditch. MNDoT is good about getting the roads plowed and salted pretty quickly, but it was a lot for them to handle, and many roads were plowed but still icy this morning. I was surprised to make it to work today within only a few minutes of normal.
I was very glad that I gave up within two blocks and took a sick day. I got a lot done around the house, and didn’t have the headaches associated with winter storm driving.
My hope is that it will warm up enough to melt all this snow within a week or so. I don’t expect to see snow on the ground in two weeks. The forcast is 29 degrees every day until the end of the week, which should be warm enough to at least melt the snow on pavement.
