A few weeks ago, I went into a local gun shop with a friend. While we were in there, we saw they had a really cool cat roaming around the store. At first, we thought it might be a bobcat. Actually, I thought it looked a lot like a small leopard, and my friend thought it might be a bobcat. It was quite a bit larger than your average domestic house cat. It stood about as tall as my parents' cocker spaniel.
We asked them what kind of cat it was, and they said it's called a Serval, and it's from Africa. I'm wondering, has anyone else has seen these cats and know how easy they are to keep as pets? I don't think I want one, but I'd be interested to hear if they are prone to attacking people, since (from what I've seen) they are wild animals.
This picture is taken from a random website (a bunch of sites I came across have the exact same picture). It doesn't do a good job showing the scale of the cat, but will give a good idea what they look like.
UPDATE: I just talked to a guy at that gun shop. Seems she's not a friendly cat. She will bite, and tends to growl at times. Now I KNOW I don't want one. Also, they had to get a permit just to have it. It is definitely a cool cat though!!

Yes, wild cats are dangerous. Heck, domesticated cats and be dangerous when annoyed! Years ago we did serious look into what it took to own any sort of non-domestic wild cat, and it is very, very risky. There is a reason they are considered WILD cats!

Wow, that’s kind of neat. They are still a wild cat, though, so I’d be cautious.
However, it is known that the pharaohs of Egypt kept leopards as pets. If raised by humans from cubhood, they were very affectionate, sweet-natured, and good pets!
