The Day After WordPress

So I've been on WordPress for a day now. One feature I figured out, and really like, is the Post to Future feature. I tested it out with today's “My Utmost” and “Notable Quotable” posts, and it seemed to work as I hoped. I look forward to those daily posts being a little more consistent with that feature available. You may even see them show up while I'm gone on my honeymoon during the first week of January.

I also like the ability to create subcategories for archives. The only thing that frustrates me as fas as that goes is that I have a subcategory or two (which were categories of their own under Movable Type) that aren't showing up, and I speculate won't until I post something new to them. I am also confounded as to why the categories seem to show up in random order, rather than alphabetical.

I've already stopped a spam comment with WordPress. I like that it holds suspicious comments for moderation before allowing them to be posted. Support for MT-Blacklist under Movable Type version 2.661 seemed to be waning, so I did need to come up with something to curb the massive amounts of spam that like to spring up at the most inoppertune times.

The bandwagon of people switching to WordPress seems to be growing. The Flannel Avenger and Shanktified! both made the switch recently, and The Evangelical Outpost is in the process of moving over too. Personally, I liked Movable Type and would have liked to stay, but they are charging now for what they used to give away, and WordPress promises to always be free.
