Despite his failed bid for a seat in the U.S. Senate in Illinois, Alan Keyes remains one of my favorite statesmen. He has a column up now making a strong case for why Jeb Bush not only has the power to save Terri Schiavo's life, he has a Constitutional duty to do so.

I agree.
And I heard a rumor that Jeb started to do just that with the Dept of Children and Families Agents headed towards the hospice, but they were told by the local Sheriff that they would not be allowed to take Terri. Rather than face an armed conflict with police vs. police, word is that Jeb backed down. I’m still trying to track that one down for sure.
That sounds crazy. All it would take is one phone call to the Sheriff and the matter would be over.

Side note: Keyes is right on the issues of life, but that reparation thing in his run for the Senate, plus his Johnny-come-lately thing, just made him look bad.
That’s nuts! I am not big on State power (I’m more for local and individual power), but I would think the State of Florida would have full jurisdiction on this one.
I forgot about the reparations thing. Yeah, Keyes is cool, but he’s got his shortcomings.
