The Chair

This week, I decided on a sermon that is both entertaining (very much so actually), as well as full of substance.

In the summer of 2000, I had the privilege of attending the “Steeling the Mind of America” Conference in Keystone, Colorado. There were fourteen different Christian speakers there, speaking on all sorts of different topics. I was drawn there by one of my favorite Christian speakers, and the personality of the first “Sermon of the Week” just two weeks ago, Chuck Missler of Koinonia House. Missler ended up being one of the speakers I enjoyed the least1.

Among my favorites that weekend were Josh McDowell and Frank Peretti. McDowell's ministry focuses on kids, and Peretti is an author well known in Christian circles. I haven't read his books, but I have very much enjoyed his sermons.

The sermon he gave that weekend was called “The Chart”. It dealt with spiritual warfare and the Judeo-Christian world-view. It was a followup to the sermon he gave at the previous “Steeling the Mind” conference a year before called “The Chair”, which is this week's sermon that I'd like to share.

1.There seems to be a tendency of mine to attend his conferences and get more interested in the other speakers. I love Chuck, but after listening to hours upon hours of his speeches and commentaries, other viewpoints can be quite refreshing.
